Is Your Beauty Cream Ruining Your Face?

By Janice Wee

You spend good money on a cream that is meant to make your skin softer. Fairer. Smoother. Younger. More beautiful. But instead of more beautiful skin, you end up with spots. Or rashes. The results are a far cry from what you'd expect.

Yet your best friend who is using the same cream as you ends up with more radiant, softer skin.

Why does that cream make her skin look fabulous but make your skin look horrendous?

I'd wager it is because of the differences between her skin and yours. Maybe hers is dry and a rich cream works wonders on her face. While yours is oily, so that rich cream clogs your pores and leads to an acne breakout.

Each brand has various skincare lines meant for the different skin types. Your skin could be dry, normal, sensitive, oily, problem, combination or mature.

If you use skincare meant for oily, problem skin on mature skin, you would end up with more obvious lines on your face.

If you use skincare meant for dry skin on problem, acne prone skin, you'd end up with a major pimple breakout.

The bottomline is to use skincare formulated for your skin type.

1. Oily skin gets shiny by mid day. If your skin get shiny by noon, you have oily skin.
2. Dry skin feels tight and dry.If your skin feels tight, dry and even flakes, you have dry skin.
3. Mature skin tends to be dry and has fine lines.
4. Problem skin is prone to pimples, and has blackheads or whiteheads or various blemishes and is very oily.
5. Sensitive skin reacts badly to most skincare lines except for the skincare made specially for sensitive skin.

Which is your skin type?
Know your skin type. Then pick your skincare accordingly. Your skin will then look its best.
